Job Title: Principal Engineer - Tech Safety
My client an established global Oil & Gas / Green Energy EPC company is looking for a Principal Technical Safety Engineer to support major infrastructure projects across both onshore and offshore operations ranging from Front-End and early conceptual design through to detailed engineering, commissioning and verification. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking company designing infrastructure solutions for some of the most respected operators in Carbon Capture, Offshore Wind and Offshore Oil & Gas.

Responsibilities
  • Leading and being responsible for the entire HSE in Design engineering activities for the assigned project.
  • Supervising, assigning and scheduling work to the entire HSE in Design team for the project.
  • Performing discipline review and preparation of necessary project specific adjustments and supplements of the discipline related parts of the standard company project execution model.
  • Preparing man hour estimates, schedules and meet manpower resource requirements to meet project objective.
  • Ensuring the job progresses as per schedule and as per required quality.
  • Establishing need dates for assignment of personnel on the job.
  • Maintaining contact with Client, project management and other discipline Lead Engineers to assure that accurate, timely communications and flow of information is implemented.
  • Mentoring young engineers who would like to develop their Design HSE skills.
  • Working on projects from front-end feasibility to detailed design and modification projects.
  • Supporting tenders as required.
Skills required:
Familiarity with UK and Norwegian Regulatory Regimes
Experience in performing/managing the following Safety analyses;
  • Consequence analysis,
  • Qualitative and quantitative risk assessment,
  • Firewater hydraulic modelling,
  • Experience with the following Technical Safety Software
  • DNV PHAST.
  • PIPENET
Expertise with developing philosophies and specifications, such as active and passive fire protection.
Be fully conversant with HAZOP / SIL / Design Review / 3D Model Reviews.
Proven ability to work with minimal supervision.
Experienced in managing a team of engineers and designers.
Experience of working in a multicultural, multi-disciplined, multi-site work share environment.
Ability to work in a team environment and coordinate with other discipline lead engineers.

Preferred:
Knowledge and experience of Industry/Oil and Gas Codes and Standards specifically familiar with International Engineering standards.
Experience with Oil and Gas, HVDC converters, Offshore Platforms and Floating Substructures, CCUS and/or Hydrogen.
Postgraduate qualifications in the relevant discipline; management or supervisory qualifications or equivalent experience, desirable with process safety.
Desirable to have registration as a Chartered Chemical or Professional Safety Engineer.
