Job Title: Centreline Engineer
Hours/Days of Work:

  • Approx. 8 hours/day, 5 days/week until the outage starts on July 4th.
  • During the outage: 10-12 hours/day (day shift), Monday to Saturday.
  • Location: Derry, Northern Ireland
  • Duration: ASAP until September
NES Fircroft are recruiting for a Centreline Engineer for our high profile client based in Derry, Northern Ireland. 

The Centreline Engineer will oversee the successful execution of centreline overhaul works, supporting the project team to deliver safely, on schedule, on budget, and to the required quality.
The Centreline Engineer will work with the project team to support the overhaul project manager in delivering the centreline overhaul works safely and efficiently. This includes ensuring the OEM performs their tasks according to agreed processes and procedures. The role requires on-site support during the nightshift phase.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the overhaul project manager in delivering the centreline overhaul programme.
  • Ensure quality of centreline works per agreed protocols.
  • Supervise centreline works, resolve issues, and report progress.
  • Act as work controller for Safe Systems Of Work.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Essential:
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with GE 9FA gas turbines and GE (Legacy Alstom) ST.
  • Knowledge of GT testing and assembly protocols.
  • Good knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and C&I issues with GE 9FA and Legacy Alstom Steam turbines.
  • Supervision and reporting experience.
Desirable:
  • Safety and environmental management experience.
  • Experience managing overhauls in combined cycle stations.
  • Understanding of contracts.
Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Up-to-date Safe Pass, Manual Handling, Working from Height.
Desirable:
  • Primary engineering degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Occupational Health and Safety qualifications.

Safety:
  • Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Full PPE required, including arc-resistant gear and steel toe boots.
  • SafePass and manual handling training required.
  • PPE provided by the company, excluding safety boots, gloves, and eye protection.
Other Requirements:
  • Must have a personal phone, laptop/PC, and internet facilities for professional engagement.
